I’ve not yet had the opportunity to climb outside of Australia but this sounds great! We have a small, mostly sport crag close to where we live & the access makes it very convenient to still get a quick few climbs in on busy weekends.
Nice! Having a nearby cliff is so so nice! I've wanted to climb in Australia for a while now. Places like Mt. Arapalies and the Blue Mountains look very epic. Maybe one day...
We were at Arapiles over the weekend! I’ll be writing about that trip soon. It is an amazing climbing area with such easy access to climbs from camp. You should add Moonaire in the Flinders Ranges and Kangaroo Island to your list too!
I love climbing in the Gunks for all of those reasons too. Plus there's a nearby AAC campground.
The one thing that gave me the heebie-jeebies last time I was there was all the centipedes hanging out on the edges that I couldn't see until I started to smush them under my crimp.
Yes, Pat, true! The AAC campground is really nice. I like it there. It's got everything a climber might need and it's beautiful. And yes, the centipedes are intense!

Yay! Rough Cut rules. You have distilled the Gunks experience perfectly!
Thanks Mark! I'm looking forward to more debriefing business trips to Rough Cut next season!
